Celebrate Elizabeth Fear’s 20-year tenure

Seasoned employee remembers when most claims were sent via the USPS

This quarter, 4 employees are celebrating more than 2 decades of dedication and experience at EyeMed. We congratulate Cathy Holley, Dean Colson, Elizabeth Fear and Jim Wright on their milestone anniversaries. Last week we highlighted Cathy. Today, we’re highlighting Elizabeth.

From Cole National to EyeMed, Elizabeth Fear, claims coordinator, has made Luxottica her home for 20 years.

What was your first job at Luxottica or EyeMed?

I worked at Cole Managed Vision in Twinsburg, OH, as a claims processor, but I moved to Mason, OH, when I was offered a job in the assignment department after Luxottica acquired Cole National. I jumped at the opportunity to move to the greater Cincinnati area and have never regretted it.

Luxottica acquired Cole National in 2004. Cole National owned Cole Managed Vision in addition to Pearle Vision®, Target Optical® and Sears Optical®. At the time, they also owned Things Remembered®.

When I first moved to Mason, there were just 25 claims processors in the assignment area, and we were located on the first floor. That’s why you see the EyeMed name over the first floor entrance to the left of our main lobby. We even had our own mail room, which was really important at the time due to the volume of paper claims we sent out. Now, I’m a claims coordinator and 90% of our claims are electronic. I love living here and working for EyeMed!

Why do you choose to stay with EyeMed?

My favorite part of working here is being able to volunteer for OneSight. I love that the company gives back to people through the foundation. I have been blessed to attend 4 clinics, and I’m preparing to go on my fifth one to Mexico in May. I also devote time to Community Vision Care as the captain for Cheviot School.

With which EyeMed brand characteristic do you identify?

COMPASSIONATE. Simply put, I love to help. I spend a lot of time volunteering at church, concerts and OneSight. It’s part of who I am.

What advice would you give a new member to the EyeMed team?

Take any opportunity to learn new things and network with other people any chance you get.

What are you most proud of in your role at EyeMed?

I feel a real sense of pride to have the chance to work for an industry-leading company.

What are you known for outside of work?

I’m a huge concert-goer! I love Christian bands and can’t ever get enough of Michael W. Smith, Tenth Avenue North, For King and Country, Tobymac and Rend Collective. I’m also very attached to my cute, cuddly dog, Bo, and my cat, Ivey. I bet you didn’t know that my daughter is also part of the Luxottica family. Jessica works in the Oakley Call Center.
