With a quarter century of service, Lucy Bryant has had a front-row seat to it all
What was your first job at Luxottica or EyeMed?
I remember plain as day when I started at Luxottica. My 25-year journey began at the Distribution Center in Sharonville, long before Luxottica moved it to Atlanta as part of the Sunglass Hut acquisition in 2001. I stayed in Sharonville for 9 years, until 2003 when I made the transition to Luxottica Place as safety eyewear coordinator.
Through the Sunglass Hut acquisition, we gained a large, state-of-the-art distribution facility in McDonough, GA that has since expanded and undergone a giant renovation recently.
Flash forward 25 years, I’m now the program administrator for the IndustrialEyes safety eyewear discount program. I work with new clients and set up new accounts, enroll new plans and troubleshoot issues that may arise with stores or clients. I love it!
Why did you come to Luxottica?
I was looking for something new and somewhere that could provide healthcare benefits for my family.
Why do you choose to stay with EyeMed?
That’s easy! I love the people I work with and am so grateful for all I have learned along the way.
With which EyeMed brand characteristic do you identify?
UPLIFTING. I have a good outlook on life. Life is too short to spend it unhappy.
What advice would you give to a new member of the EyeMed team?
Love what you do and everything else will work out in life for you.
In my role at Luxottica/EyeMed, I’m most proud of…
It’s amazing to me to think of how much growth we’ve experienced at Luxottica in 25 years. I’ve been part of so much: the acquisition of LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, Cole Vision, EyeCare Plan of America and now the integration of EssilorLuxottica. I feel so lucky to have had a front-row seat to it all!
What are you known for outside of work?
Most people may not know I’m a volunteer extraordinaire! I work 16 weeks out of the year at the Special Needs Ball Field (Dream Catchers VSP) in Middletown. I also spend my Friday evenings and Saturdays working at our Closing Ministry for Go Lighthouse in Middletown. Volunteering has shaped who I am.
What do you think EyeMed’s best kept secret is?
We’re a fun company and love to have fun in our jobs. We’re all in this together so we might as well make the days as fun as possible.
